February was all about our chicks! There was great excitement in the classroom waiting for them to hatch and I think we all agreed it was well worth the wait! The class all “mucked in” by helping out with cleaning and feeding. We kept an observation diary, drew pictures and wrote sentences on the changes we noticed in their development. 1st class did a wonderful job minding the chicks! We also learned about lots of different farm animals and what food we get from animals. We made ice cream, cheese, Stone Age bread and pancakes. We planted lettuce and spinach and kept a diary on their growth. In maths, we continued our work on capacity and learned about money and how to add our coins up to 50 cent. We went on a trip to Airfield Farm and had a snowball fight in school. All in all, a good month in 1st class!
