29.11.2017 Some up to date news from St Catherine’s

Dear Parents and Carers,

Christmas Fair : Thank you all for your support last Sunday for what was our best Christmas Fair – EVER!!! It was lovely to see so many people give of their time and effort in the run up to it, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for set up and also on Sunday for the event itself.  There was a great sense of community involvement throughout, which is really what we are all about.

Don’t worry, I haven’t spent it all yet!  The Board of Management wish to prepare an IT Strategy for the school to incorporate a bank of Ipads and a portable storage unit for them.  These would be for use by children during station teaching in all classes.  We want to get this right though, so we will be seeking proper advice so the money will be spent wisely and effectively.  If you or anyone you know has expertise in this area, please feel free to contact me.

The class teachers and children all put a lot of effort into designing and making Christmas decorations, many of which had your child’s name on them.  If you still wish to purchase any decorations, named or unnamed they are still in the office for 50c.  Magic Reindeer food, prepared by Junior Infants, is also on sale from the office for 50c a packet.

This year, we designed calendars rather than Christmas cards.  These are on sale from now until 22nd December for €8.  They are designed like a planner so are very usable and will make lovely presents!  They are the same price as 1 pack of cards used to be!

Orchestra Concert :  As promised here are the details for Friday night.  The concert starts at 6pm.  The Church will be open from 5.30pm.  All children MUST be at the church for 5.45pm so the concert can start on time.  It will last approximately 1 hour.  All children from 1st to 6th class are involved.  It promises to be a fabulous occasion.  There are no tickets for the concert but space is limited.  There really isn’t room for buggies, unfortunately.  Donations towards the Orchestra Programme are most welcome, there will be a box at the back of the Church on the night.

Garda Vetting : If you are not sure if you are vetted or not, please just ask.  You cannot volunteer for supervision or trips if your Vetting hasn’t been processed.  This is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT.

Absence Forms :  These are in the office – an email or phone call does not suffice.  Túsla require the paperwork be kept for the full year.
