21-10-2016 Used Electrical Goods Collection & Compost Bins

Dear All,

Our Green Committee have been elected, and have met, and are already coming up with great ideas for our school. It seems we have a very proactive team this year!

As you all know, we have been composting at St. Catherine’s for some time. However, we have no expert composters and were wondering if any of you would like to get involved with our composting efforts at school? We are limited in the types of items we can add to the compost bins as we mainly have fruit skins, paper and pencil sharpenings. This does not a happy bin make! We would very much appreciate the help of someone who could organise our compost bins, adding to what we generate at school and organising the emptying of the bins. The children benefit greatly from the knowledge they gain about what goes in a compost bin and how it can be used. If we don’t get support from parents, we might have to forgo composting altogether which would be a massive loss to the school.

Secondly, the Green Committee have organised a collection for used electrical goods. If you would like to dispose of any electrical goods (no large items), please bring them in to school on the morning of Friday 11th November. They will be collected from school at 12pm that day. No early or late items will be accepted as we have no space to store them and will only be organising one such collection at this point.

Kind regards,

Jane, Róisín and Anna and the Green Committee
