Dear Parents,
First of all, can I remind you that we have an orchestra concert next Friday, November 25th? It will take place in the Church of St Catherine and St James on Donore Avenue, starting time 6:30 pm. All children from 1st to 6th Class are expected to attend. It should last about an hour and will be a great occasion, I promise you.
The Parents’ Association committee is in full swing now organising our Winter Fair, which will be happening on Sunday December 4th. Proceeds will be spent on a major revamp of our ICT equipment. Please do support the Fair in any way you can – by donating goods in good condition (toys, bric-a-brac, cakes, books, dvds etc), by offering services (face-painting, massage, manicures and haircuts have all been very popular in the past!), by sourcing raffle prizes (vouchers, nice bottles and eatables, hampers etc), by publicising the Fair among family, friends and neighbours and above all, by coming along on the day and spending!
Thank you SO MUCH to all of those who have applied for garda vetting. It all seems to be going more smoothly now and we have 85 parents vetted! If you haven’t yet submitted a form, I have plenty of them.
Parent-Teacher Meetings will take place on the afternoon of Friday, January 27th (not 18th November). I did mention in previous emails that they had been moved but I think a few parents missed this, sorry if you were expecting them this week.!
As you’re probably aware, the children now go on a lot of field trips. Many destinations insist on a child-adult ratio of 10-1, so we do need parent volunteers for some of these. We totally understand that some parents may simply be unavailable due to work commitments, but if it’s possible for you to volunteer even once a year, that would be great. Otherwise it means a Resource Teacher or SNA has to go with a class and this in turn means that her “real” job isn’t being done.
Finally, well done to the children who represented the school so beautifully last Friday at the Community Talent Show. I’ve heard fantastic reports, and thank you also to the parents and families who brought them and supported them. Special thanks to Tracy, who accompanied several of our stars.
Kind Regards,
April.
