The Board of Management has spent a significant amount of time this year looking at our enrolment policy with a view to updating it and making sure it aligns with our vision for the school.
Essentially, as you are aware, St Catherine’s welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds, but as we are usually over-subscribed for Junior Infants, we do have to have fair and transparent criteria for deciding which children are awarded places.
The main changes to the existing policy are that local residence and family connection to the school have become more important criteria in the process.
I attach a copy of the draft new enrolment policy and would very much welcome your comments before the Board finally ratifies it. It will not make a huge difference to families whose children currently attend St Catherine’s as we are still planning to take all sibling of current pupils. However you may well have suggested improvements or disagree with some aspects of the policy – please let us know.
